This is a genuine hand coloured, signed pochoir print from the exclusive 1912 Parisian fashion publication Modes et Manieres d'Aujourd'hui (Plate VIII). One of a series of 12 pochoirs in a seminal work that defined Art Deco. The Art Deco elements include the strong geometric background motifs and the elegant elongation of model. The turban headdress is a Poiret trademark and the jewelry and languid pose suggests a pampered and hedonistic lifestyle - the atmosphere both Poiret and Lepape were famous for creating. The rich and thickly-applied pochoir gouache contributes to the impression of luxury.
