Mario Simon
Les Deux Soeurs
Pochoir
SOLD
From La Gazette du Bon Ton No. 7, August 1920, Plate 54. Mario Simon was one of the "new school" of fashion illustrators coming to prominence in 1920 along with Raoul Dufy, Edouardo Benito and Robert Bonfils. Their subjects often appear "flattened", one of the stylistic techniques of the Art Deco era when artists experimented with redefining perspective. One can also see how the traditionally conservative House of de Beer was actually a leader in embracing the 1920's movement to "radical chic" with these two most unusual designs. h.9.5in X w.7.25in; h.24.1cm X w.18.4cm
