This is a genuine hand coloured and signed pochoir print on Japan paper issued hors-texte in the first year of publication of the exclusive French fashion publication Feuillets d'Art (1919). Lepape has conventionalized the face of his model to resemble a traditional Japanese Noh mask, the Eastern source being a key derivative inspiration for many of the radical new Art Deco design elements. This is one of Lepape's most distinctive images, which itself has become an Art Deco icon internationally.
