This is a hand coloured pochoir from the "Chansons De Bilitis", Pierre Corrard, Editor (1929), an issue devoted to Barbier. This is Barbier's tribute to the disciplined line and seductive mythology of the Classical era, which he continuously drew on as a basic theme and style determinant in the majority of his art commissions. Barbier could draw with a poetic heart, as this sensitive pochoir demonstrates.
