George Barbier
A Palm Beach
Pochoir
This is a hand coloured, plate-signed pochoir from La Gazette Du Bon Ton, 1921, Plate 40. Interesting that there are no "Palms" in this lovely depiction of a modern holiday outfit by Worth. The dog portrayed is the 'stock-dog' breed that Barbier uses in all of his artworks (but for the occasional fashion-statement Borzoi); one can safely assume that he had a pooch just like this one. An interesting pendant image to his pochoir 'Amalfi'. H. 9.25in X W. 6.875in; H. 23.5cm X W. 17.5cm
