This is a hand coloured, plate-signed pochoir from La Gazette Du Bon Ton, Issue #4, 1921, Plate 28. Spectacular silvering on the evening gown by Worth and on the shoes as well. Classic Bon Ton drama, with the social commentary of the 1920s New Woman in charge with the male figure left behind, puzzled and miniscule in the background. Her headdress on cropped hair predicts the fashion rage that will sweep the fashion world interntionally in a couple of years hence. H 9.5in X W. 7.5in; H. 24.1cm X W. 19.1cm |
