Paul Allier
L'Automne
Pochoir
"Autumn" deploys more sombre colors, but is moderated by the intense reds which reflect the energy of autumn winds. In the later 1920's, following the close of the great Parisian fashion illustration magazines, many of the illustrators who did not move to Vogue, Harper's, etc. produced small albums of fashion designs. Allier's "Les Quatre Saisons" published by Galerie Lutetia of Paris in 1928, was such an example. "l'Autumne" is a favourite classic with its atmospheric subdued cool colour and smile-provoking imagery of another innocent time. On textured Arches paper; rarely seen in such immaculate condition. H. 10.875in X W. 14.25in; H. 27.6cm X W. 36.2cm
