A very rare and early Lepape hand coloured, plate-signed contribution to La Gazette Du Bon Ton, Issue #2, 1912. Often appearing in Art Deco art/textbooks to illustrate the quintessential Poiret "look" of the times - the elegant cape, the turban, the egret plume, the pearls and, most definitely, being "seen" in right and exotic places, with the Theatre of the era being quite one of the best opportunities for haute couture "personal display". This image illustrates the New Woman, at once delicately coquettish and costume-impressive. Approx. dimensions - H:9.5in X W;7.5in; H:24.1cm X W;19.1cm |
