Hand-coloured, plate-signed pochoir from Falbalas & Fanfreluches. "The Judgment of Paris" is from Barbier's Almanac of 1924. With reference/deference to the Greek myth of the borrowed name, we have the partially concealed silhouetted male, quite anonymous, evaluating the merits of the 3 Modern Women while holding the coveted Prize Apple of adoration. His opinion barely matters of course, as each "new" woman is superbly and breathtakingly attired, with a confidence that can only originate from within. +++++++
This famous illustrated almanac series was produced from 1922 to 1926 only and depicted high-society life in Paris - the fashion, social and artistic capital of the early inter-war years.
