This is a hand coloured pochoir from La Gazette Du Bon Ton, Issue #8, 1921, Plate 60. A wonderfully moody (and musical) piece inspired by Paul Poiret at the dawn of the Jazz Age. Noteworthy is just the hint of a man in the image. This demonstrates the tongue-in-cheek relegation of her escort: the "male-as-incidental" theme in much pochoir art which underscores the very real issues of the time: the emancipation of the woman.
