This is an plate-signed pochoir from the rare Parisian fashion publication, Les Feuillets d'Art: an artistic project by Lucien Vogel, editor of Gazette du Bon Ton, which appeared intermittently between 1919 and 1920. This image shows Drian's painterly skill with his soft and sensitive charcoal line. This moody image delivers a fabulous rendering of the lastest fashion and establishes Drian solidly as leader in the dramatic and elegant illustrative style that would later influence great contemporary artists such as Gruau and Downton.
