This is a hand coloured, plate-signed pochoir from La Gazette Du Bon Ton, Issue #5, March 1913, Plate 1. This is a stunning early Art Deco image with intensive colouration and wonderful, sparkling silver highlights on the tan theatre gown. Barbier adopts the new tactic of having a model facing backwards in order to give full play to the richly patterned coat. The Empire period and the Oriental accents shown here are two of the major influences of the new Art Deco design movement. H. 9.75in X W. 7.625in; H. 24.8cm X W. 19.4cm |
