This is a hand coloured and plate-signed pochoir from Gazette du Bon Ton (March 1914 edition No.3, Plate 27). This image shows the Emerging New Woman in the forefront of the New Age, with the traditional in the background, left behind. The theatrical head dress and pearl accessories foreshadow classic 1920's Art deco style. Rich saturated colour throughout and striking silver highlights on the bodice. One of Barbier's most popular images.
