The cool color palette of "Winter" is used by Allier here. The sparks of red enhance the feel of the chill by its sheer contrast to the frosty overtones. In the later 1920's, following the close of the great Parisian fashion illustration magazines, many of the illustrators who did not move to Vogue, Harper's, etc. produced small albums of fashion designs. Allier's "Les Quatre Saisons" , a tour de force published by Galarie Lutetia, Paris in 1928, was such an example. Allier manages to transmit a wintry brisk and joyful energy which contrasts his use of chilly, subdued colour. See the other images in this series for more details.
